Experience authentic horse-drawn haying and raking demonstration in the field. Visit with living history interpreters as they prepare the noon meal for the harvesters. Cancer Benefit for Sonia Roe

Sonia turns 53 on May 30 and was diagnosed with liver and colon cancer in March. Benefit is being held to help with medical bills as she is unable to work. Event will also include a 110 mile poker run-registration is at 11 a.m.

Lakewood Fishing Derby 2008
Lakewood Fishing Derby 2008 is 6/7/2008 beginning at 8:30 am. Salina Parks & Rec is sponsoring the 6th Annual Lakewood Fishing Derby in cooperation with other area corporate sponsors. Grab your parents and venture into the outdoors for a morning of fishing fun. There will be a drawing for various door prizes as well as prizes awarded for different competitions, including a casting contest and biggest fish. After final weigh-in, the prizes will be awarded, followed by a hotdog roast for all participants. Time: 8:30am check-in at north end of Lakewood Park, by the boat ramp; 9am fishing begins; 11am fishing ends with final weigh-in, followed by prizes and hotdog roast. Limit: none. Ages: All, children 10 years and under must have adult supervision. Competing Age Groups are 8yrs & under, 9-11 yrs. and 12-14 yrs. Fee: FREE (and free fishing for all ages, no fishing licenses required for this event). Bring: fishing equipment and bait/lures.
